Boston beat St. Louis 3-0 in Game 4 to complete a four-game sweep of the World Series. It was the club's first title since 1918 and ended the long drought known as the Curse of the Bambino.
The final game was played under a total lunar eclipse. Days earlier, Boston had come back from 0-3 down against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series.
